TSDSI, in the relatively short span of 6 years of its existence, is playing a significant role in the domestic and global telecom standards arena. It has emerged as the voice of India in global standards forums, contributing our unique requirements, innovations and solutions.
Recently TSDSI released its Vision 2025 – “To ensure that Digital Communication Standards increasingly drive domestic economic and policy activities and enhance India’s competitiveness for ICT goods and services in global markets”. TSDSI Technology Roadmap is being revised in-line with this vision. India specific requirements and innovations form the basis of new items being deliberated in our technical groups. All of these are targeted towards enhancing India’s participation and contributions in global SDOs (3GPP, oneM2M, ITU etc.) to impact emerging digital communication standards.
Some of the technology areas under deliberation include Dynamic Spectrum Access, Multi-SIM, CSI enhancement, 6G Radio Access Network, 6GHz Spectrum for wireless communications, 60GHz Channel characteristics, Smart IoT Communications & applications, Rural Broadband Architecture, technologies beyond 5G backhaul & security innovations for next-generation technologies, mission-critical communications, Smart City & Smart Utilities infrastructure, Cloud Interoperability & Portability, Drone Communication Systems, PPDR, ICN, flexible UL-DL utilization in 3GPP Release 17, Option 6 for 5G Deployment, Broadcast offload, fixed and mobile convergence with 5G Core, DNS Security, Indian Languages support etc.
To engage India’s standardisation community as well as global stakeholders in a dialogue on “Standards for Emerging technologies”, TSDSI launched a “TSDSI Expert Talks” Webinar Series on 24 July 2020 with an inaugural talk by Prof. Arogyaswami Paulraj.
