Around 1500 3GPP delegates are currently in Bengaluru to attend the 3GPP RAN working group meetings being hosted by TSDSI in the week of 25 to 29 August 2025, to kickstart study items toward 6G standards as part of Release 20, and simultaneously finalize specifications for Release 19, which will update 5G Advanced specifications.
TSDSI thanks DoT for their support in hosting the meetings, in the form of assisting in securing the necessary approvals for travel of the foreign delegates and financial grant for hosting the meetings. The support from Ministry of External Affairs and its offices in over 55 countries for timely processing of the visa requests for approximately 1200 delegates is highly appreciated.
The meetings are spread over 22 rooms at 3 venues in Bengaluru, making it one of the largest such meetings of 3GPP. TSDSI has been hosting 3GPP meetings in India regularly since 2023, as part of its endeavour to enable the TSDSI 3GPP members in India to participate in these meetings within their country, reducing costs and efforts associated with international travel. The engagement of TSDSI 3GPP members has been increasing steadily, in terms of attending and making contributions.
Hosting of these meetings in India also reinforces India’s growing role in global telecommunications standardization, fostering domestic innovation and engagement with international experts.
TSDSI would also like to acknowledge the support from its member organizations in the form of sponsorships for hosting these meetings, notably, Apple, Elena, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, Keysight, ONEMedia SINCLAIR and 5GIF. TSDSI also thanks MeitY for its support to the meeting in the form of a grant.
