Webinar on “Testing framework for IoT Privacy”

TSDSI is proud to announce the 11th Knowledge sharing webinar under the aegis of India EU Partnership Project on “Testing Framework for IoT Privacy”.
Abstract: Privacy and Data protection are key buzzwords both in India and Europe. The launch of GDPR in EU on 25th May 2018 has created a legal framework where the citizens of EU have their interest protected against the data theft. Similar initiative is taking place in India. With the data protection bill in draft and public comments awaited by 10th September 2018. India is also responding to growing need of privacy and data protection of its citizens.
On another front, Department of Telecom, government of India has a notification for mandatory security testing for telecom equipment from 1st October 2018. The telecom industry is gearing up for that and so is government and certifying authorities from the testing framework readiness point of view. It is but natural the evolution will be for privacy testing in future.
While security testing is a technical topic, privacy is beyond technical regime. However, from a certification perspective we need a technical framework to certify products. This webinar will deliberate on the key considerations when designing such a test framework.

Dr Mahesh Uppal is the Director of Com First (India) a niche consultancy company based in Delhi. The company specializes in telecommunication and internet, policy, regulation and strategy.
Dr Uppal was educated at Delhi Public School, St Stephens’ College, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and City University, London. He has carried out academic research in several major institutions in India and United Kingdom. These include the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, the University of Cambridge and the University of Sussex.
Speaker: Udo Scalla, Head of Global Competence Center – IoT Privacy, TÜV Rheinland
Udo brings a wealth of experience from management positions in large and medium enterprises. He held several Senior Positions at Deutsche Telekom AG and T-Systems. As a member of the board of Technisat (Consumer Electronic) he was responsible for R&D, strategy and sales.
