TSDSI Session on “Bridging the Standardization Gap” in Workshop on “Unleashing the Potential of the National Digital Communications Policy 2018” to celebrate WTISD
May 17, 2019
The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, has been celebrated annually on 17 May since 1969, to mark the founding of ITU. The theme of this year’s celebration, its 50th anniversary, is “Bridging the Standardization Gap”.
TSDSI is proud to announce that it is anchoring a session to explore this theme, as part of the Workshop on “Unleashing the Potential of the National Digital Communications Policy 2018”, being organised by IITCOE, in New Delhi on 17 May 2019. The workshop brings together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss some of the existing challenges and opportunities for the regulation of digital technologies and markets as outlined under the NDCP 2018.
About the Session:
The Indian market, despite our intellectual prowess in the Digital Technologies field, and our large market, has traditionally been an adopter of standards defined in global forums, without much say in their development. Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI), formed in 2014, with the mandate to incorporate India specific requirements and indigenously developed solutions and IP in global standards bodies, is playing a critical role in bridging the standardization gap between the “mature” and “emerging” markets. TSDSI members are contributing significantly to development of next generation of telecom technologies, 5G and IoT/M2M.
This session will discuss the challenges in navigating the “standards development world”, from the perspective of young SDOs like TSDSI and new actors like Indian Startups and SMEs.
