TSDSI is proud to announce the 15th Knowledge sharing webinar under the aegis of India EU Partnership Project on “Govt. of India Initiative for Leadership in 5G”
Abstract:
The 5G technology has been conceived as a foundation for expanding the potential of the Networked Society. A digital transformation brought about through the power of connectivity is taking place in almost every industry. The landscape is expanding to include massive scale of “smart things” to be interconnected. Therefore, the manner in which future networks will cope with massively varied demands and a business landscape will be significantly different from today. For India, 5G provides an opportunity for industry to reach out to global markets, and consumers to gain with the economies of scale.
A 5G High Level Forum was set up by the Government in September 2017 to articulate the Vision for 5G in India and to recommend policy initiatives and action plans to realize this vision.
This webinar will give an overview of the policy initiatives of the Govt. of India to ensure India takes a leadership role in 5G Technology space.
Speaker: Mr.R. K. Pathak, Deputy Director General (International Cooperation), Department of Telecom
Mr R. K. Pathak has done his B.E. Hons. (Electrical) and M Tech (Power Electronics). He has more than 31 years of experience in different disciplines including entrepreneurship, standardization and promotion, development of manufacturing of telecom equipment and investment promotions. He has been instrumental in promotion of domestic manufacturing through Make in India Policy of the Government, and in promoting exports of telecom equipment and services from the country. He played a key role in setting up of Telecom Standard Development Society, India (TSDSI), for standards development from India and 5G India Forum for making India a technology provider.
Presently he is Deputy Director General (International Cooperation) in Department of Telecom and looking after work related to WTO, economic cooperation agreements, standardization, 5G High Level Forum and its implementation, promotion of telecom exports and Telecom Centre of Excellences (TCoEs). He has additional responsibility as Secretary, TEPC and also Director, TCOE India. He is Member Secretary of High Level Forum for 5G India 2020 and Executive Officer for 5G Program Office.
