Meet Speakers..

Niranth Amogh

Niranth Amogh is the Head – 6G Ecosystem and Standardization – Nokia Standards Department. He is also the Vice Chair of Study Group- Services and Solutions, TSDSI. Prior to this, he was Chief Architect – Standards at the Huawei India R&D Center at Bengaluru.

He is a Senior Expert in the domain of telecom and information networks research and industry standards with over 20 years of experience in pre-research, standardization and product development activities.

His research areas include 5G Advanced and 6G vertical industry applications and platforms for Mission Critical Communications, Edge Computing, API/Server enabler frameworks, V2X, UAV communications, Smart Factory, M2M/IoT and NGSON. He is an active contributor to global and regional standards bodies/forums (3GPP, IEEE, ITU, 5GAA, 5GACIA, GSMA OPG, TSDSI, TEC).

Surya Satyavolu

Surya Satyavolu is the Founder and CTO of Sirab Technologies. Sirab Technologies is a US and India based startup developed advanced technologies for safe and reliable automated road transportation. Surya has 20+ years of engineering experience developing embedded systems and software for various products and technologies covering wireless and wireline communications, Medical Devices, and Safety and Security critical Operating Systems for Aerospace and Defence. He has 3 issued patents and several pending filings. He has an MSEE from Clemson University and a B.Tech from IIT Madras.

Afjal Das

Afjal earned his master’s degree from NIT Warangal and embarked on a remarkable journey with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 2012.

His initial years were marked by his significant contributions to the development of GNSS simulators at the Space Applications Centre (SAC), where he demonstrated an exceptional grasp of satellite navigation systems.

In 2018, Afjal transitioned to ISRO Headquarters, where he has been fervently dedicated to exploring and enhancing the applications of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in civilian domains. His passion and expertise have been instrumental in advancing the practical utilization of satellite-based navigation for societal benefits

AK Mittal

Shri A.K. Mittal is associated with TSDSI as Advisor with special focus on standardization in wireless and wireline systems and handles standards related activities of TSDSI in 3GPP and ITU-R.

He began his career in R&D at Indian Telephone Industries Ltd and later joined Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Government of India where he worked in a variety of domains like Satellite Communication, OFC, Microwave, Mobile Networks, Switching Systems, Network Management, Licensing, Regulation, Standards, Testing and Certification etc. He was Head, Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), the technology arm of DoT. He has also headed the National Telecom Institute of Policy Research, Innovation and Training, DoT. He has represented the Government of India in various bilateral and multilateral international meetings.

He did his graduation in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1976 from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He also holds a Diploma in Management.

He has a career of over 47+ years in the field of Telecommunications.

Akshay Saraf
Solution Architect Autonomous vehicles development

Akshay is having 20+ years of vast experience in ADAS & AD technology He is currently involved in research & development for next gen AD program and virtual validation. Is a SME for autonomous vehicle controls , AI based sensing and Fusion algorithms. He has patent in AI based autonomous vehicle control.

Dr. P Rajalakshmi

Dr. P Rajalakshmi, is Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, CYIENT Chair Professor in Future Communications, and Project Director of Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation Foundation (TiHAN) at IIT Hyderabad. Her research areas: Autonomous Navigation, Drone based sensing, wireless communications, Internet of Things, Cyber Physical Systems targeting applications like autonomous transportation – aerial and terrestrial, agriculture, healthcare, environmental monitoring, and smart buildings. She has been handling R&D projects funded by industry and Government of India in these areas. She is the Principal Investigator for NMICPS Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigations Foundation at IITH funded by DST. Along with fundamental theoretical research in IoT/CPS domain, she also emphasizes on translational research which involves development of minimum viable and user beneficial products. Out of her research activities, she has filed 20+ patents, published over 40+ Journals and 150+ conference peer-reviewed papers. She was awarded Young Faculty Research Fellowship under Visvesvaraya PhD Programme in January 2016 for a period of 5 years, ‘Digital Trail Blazer Award 2016’ by India Today, best paper and poster awards in reputed conferences. She is also Member of CII Telangana Digital Transformation and IT Panel since August 2018.

Jyoti G. Kale

Mrs. Jyoti Kale is working as Deputy General manager in Technology Group, ARAI. She has completed her post-graduation in Automotive Engineering and pursuing PHD from IIT Hyderabad in Artificial Intelligence department. She has around 15+ years of experience in Automotive systems, currently leading ADAS -AV team at Technology Group, ARAI. Her research areas/Expertise – Steering, suspension systems, vehicle dynamic, ADAS and Autonomous vehicle and AI/ML.

Maxime Flament

Dr. Flament represents 5GAA, the global cross-industry association for the development of connected and automated cars, where he works as Chief Technology Officer since April 2018. Maxime was working previously as Head of Department for Connected & Automated Driving (CAD) at ERTICO – ITS Europe, the European association promoting research and deployment on Intelligent Transportation Systems. For 15 years, he has been a leading contributor to many European activities on road safety, connected vehicles, automated driving, large-scale pilots, and digital mapping. Maxime holds a Ph.D. E.E. (2002) and M.Sc. E.E. (1997) from Chalmers Technical University, Sweden. He also holds an “Ingénieur Civil” degree from the Free university of Brussels (1997). In 2001, he was visiting researcher at Stanford University, CA, USA

Mohan Raju
Vice President – IoT Business

Mohan Raju is the Vice President & Vertical Head IoT at Jio. In this assignment, Mohan is responsible for leading Jio’s business interests in the IoT domain.

Mohan has rich and diverse experience of delivering in key business leadership roles for organizations like Danlaw, Bharti Airtel and HCL where he has been instrumental in driving organisational growth in new verticals and market segments. Mohan is passionate about leveraging emerging technologies to bring sustainable & inclusive developments which can enrich
lives and society.

Mohan is also the Honorary Chair for the Mobility Special Interest Group at The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) – IoT Forum as well as the Honorary Member of the Digital Communications Working Group of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) – Future Tech Panel for India.

Mohan is an Engineer in Electronics & Communications discipline and is an MBA in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, India.

Pradeep Hirisave

Myself – Pradeep Hirisave having over 18 years of professional experience in the field of wireless communications. In the past, I have extensively worked on developing L2 / L3 3gpp protocol stack for various telecom products / modems across 2G/ 3G and 4G. Further, as a Product engineer have successfully designed, developed and commercially launched several consumers based wireless products such as pocket routers, CPEs and Telematics Control Units / OBD dongles in automotive space.

In the past, have been responsible for creating end-to-end IoT solutions across energy segment, smart agriculture, smart cattle and many health and personal tracker solutions. In this position, have successfully delivered many products into the market commercially and at scale.

Currently, focusing on standardisation activities in Jio in the areas of 5G and beyond 5G / 6G in TSDSI, and 3GPP. Have filed more than 45 patents in the field of wireless communications.

Prasanta Sarkar

Qualification: B.Tech (Mechanical) from IIT, Kharagpur and MS in Software Systems from BITS, Pilani. Specialization is in xEV Systems integration and vehicle build. Earlier worked in BS6-After treatment EMS embedded software architecture and implementation of ECU Control Software, DFMEA etc.

Employment: I have designed and developed Diesel Hybrid Bus (EMS- VCU interaction) for currently operating in Mumbai.
Total 30 years of experience. Tata Motors for last 18 years in xEV powertrain. Prior to this worked in Robert Bosch, Delphi Automotive Systems in Powertrain Controls, Systems simulation and testing. While in Essar Steels, worked for earth moving and heavy good carrying vehicles.

Role: Head – Applied Analytics & Intelligence, Advanced Engineering Department, Engineering Research Center. Built the first indigenous Engine Management System of the first Nano. In production phase, was responsible for Engine Management Systems. Presently deriving meaningful insight from data coming out of Electric Vehicle. Remote root cause analysis, Trouble shooting and management. Associated with PM’s Uchchatar Avishkar Yojana with IIT-Kharagpur for Open Software and Hardware based hybrid vehicle.
Data analytics for Electric cars and Electric bus to identify inefficient system/ parts. Range analysis based on terrain, driver behavior, SoC etc.

Puneet Rathod
Lead- Technical Standards, Qualcomm

Dr. Punit Rathod is a PhD from IIT Bombay with a 17+ years of wireless R&D experience. He has a diverse experience of working as an academic researcher, entrepreneur in a public-safety communications startup, and more recently standardization research in multinational companies.He has contributed to national and international standardization efforts at TSDSI, 3GPP, IEEE, and ITU-R. His recent work has been focused on spectrum regulation and standardization as a Lead-Technical Standards with Qualcomm Standards and Industry Organization.

RajaGopalan Rajappa

RajaGopalan Rajappa is currently serving as CTO – Communication Technologies and Platforms in Tata Elxsi. Leading the Technology, Platform and Services in the areas of SDN, NFV, 5G Edge focusing for Telcos & Connected Vehicle, V2X and SDV in the Automotive Industry. RajaG is associated with Tata Elxsi for more than 25 years and holds EU & NA patents in Connected CAR and V2X areas

Saurabh Mittal

Saurabh Mittal is VP, Networks with Bharti Airtel Limited and leads Standards and Technology Ecosystem related engagements. He has been also instrumental in leading Airtel’s 5G Open RAN program. He has 25 yrs of wide ranging ICT experience with large complex networks. Besides Airtel, he has worked with Telenor, Vodafone Idea and Huawei Technologies. He has done Electronics and Communication Engineering (Hons) from Jodhpur and Executive Program in Business Management from IIM-Calcutta.

Sushil kumar

Mr. Sushil Kumar is an officer of 1987 batch of Indian Telecommunication services (ITS). He has done his graduation in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1987 and Master in Computer Science & Technology in 1989 from University of Roorkee (presently known as Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee).

With more than 30 years of experience in Telecom, IoT & ICT, he is presently working as Additional Director General Telecom for North East LSA at Shillong.

Prior to this he worked in TEC as Deputy Director General in IoT division from 2013 to Oct 2023. In this role, he created framework for finalizing specifications in IoT domain, with industry collaboration and in sync with global SDOs. Through this, Twenty Technical Reports have been released in his leadership, covering various verticals, Communication technologies, EMF radiation from IoT devices and IoT Security. Important recommendations of these reports are the part of policy/standards.

ITU recognized the six Technical Reports as an insightful technical resource & posted on its global resource portal in IoT sections (year 2023 – 2021) for the benefit of global community.

He is holding several international positions such as Chairman of ITU-T SG-20 (IoT and Smart cities & communities) Regional Group for Asia Pacific, Vice Chair of ITU-T SG-20 WP-II, Vice Chair of ITU-T SG-20 Focus Group on AI and IoT for Digital Agriculture and Member of ISO-IEC-ITU Joint Smart City task force (J-SCTF).

He created National Working Group-20 in TEC in 2015 as a mirror committee of ITU-T SG-20 on IoT and SC&C and chaired NWG-20 from 2015 to OCT 2023. He is also the chairperson of BIS National committee LITD 27 on IoT and Digital Twin from 2020. He participated as head of Indian delegation in the meetings of ITU-T SG-20 and ISO/ IEC JTC1 SC41.

Several international standards are having significant input submitted by him, naming a few in which he worked as an editor also are ITU-T Y Suppl. 53 on IoT use cases, Y Suppl. 56 on Smart City use cases and Y.4218 on IoT and ICT requirements for deployment of smart services in Rural Communities.

He delivered talk in around 200 conferences/ trainings on IoT, 5G, Digital Transformation, Smart cities etc., including ITU webinars, ETSI IoT/ Security week. He received Congratulatory emails from ITU for the remarkable success of the 1st meeting of ITU-T SG-20 Regional Group for Asia Pacific organised in his chairmanship.

He also received an appreciation from the Hon’ble Ministers, Government of India, for the excellent work done in the field of Standardisation by IoT and Digital Twin committee LITD 27 of BIS, chaired by him.

Prior to this (1989 to 2011), he also served on various positions in the field units of BSNL/ DoT for around 23 years. He is having vast experience of planning, projects, O&M of fixed line, Cellular and Optical Fiber networks.

He designed and provisioned the telecom networks for various projects related to e-Governance, National Knowledge Network and corporates; and also for Commonwealth Games (CWG) Cycling event held in Noida in 2010 and Formula One (F1) racing car event in Gr. Noida in 2011, while working in BSNL Noida.

Uwe Puetzschler

Head of Automotive & Mobility Solutions at Nokia

Uwe Puetzschler heads the global Automotive & Mobility Solutions activities in Nokia. In addition to his position at Nokia Uwe is Vice-Chair of the 5GAA Board.

He joined Siemens in 1990 and held a number of positions in Operations Support System (OSS) research and development before moving to the UK where he assumed a management role in the sales organization for 5 years. After returning from the UK and prior to his current position, he ran a business line in the global service organisation He also started Nokia’s V2X activities in Nokia Mobile Networks.

Uwe holds a Ph.D. in computer science.
