SUMMARY:Webinar on “OpenAirInterface: Democratizing innovation in the 5G era” (June 30\, 2021: Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:TSDSI is proud to announce the 29th webinar in the knowledge sharing series under the aegis of the India-EU Partnership Project on Collaboration for ICT Standardisation on “OpenAirInterface: Democratizing innovation in the 5G era”. \nAbstract: \nOpenAirInterface (OAI) is an open-source project that implements the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) technology on general purpose x86 computing hardware and Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Software Defined Radio (SDR) cards like the Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). It makes it possible to deploy and operate a 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network today and 5G New Radio (NR) networks at a very low cost. Moreover\, the open-source code can be adapted to different use cases and deployment and new functionality can be implemented\, making it an ideal platform for both industrial and academic research. The OAI Software Alliance (OSA) is a non-profit consortium fostering a community of industrial as well as research contributors. It also developed the OAI public license which is an open source license that allows contributors to implement their own patented technology without having to relinquish their intellectual property rights. This new clause is in agreement with the Fair\, Reasonable And Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) clause found in 3GPP. \nIn this talk\, we are going to describe the current OAI state-of-the-art of the development\, the OAI community and development process\, as well as the OAI public license and its usage by academia and industry. \nModerator: Mr Prakash R\, Technical Expert\, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) \nModerator Bio: Mr. Prakash R holds the designation of “Technical Expert” in Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). ITU’s IMT2020 standards (aka 5G) focus on 3 pillars of new capability – Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC)\, enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) and Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC). The new 5G capabilities are crucial for realizing the full benefits for smart utilities and smart cities. \nThe ITU Radio communication Sector (ITU-R) has recently published Recommendation ITU-R M.2150 (Detailed specifications of the radio interfaces of IMT-2020). One of the 3 technologies to be approved is 5Gi\, developed by Telecommunications Standards Development Society\, India (TSDSI)\, India’s Telecom SDO. Further\, the Indian Government has recently adopted TSDSI’s transposed oneM2M standards as national standards for IoT/M2M technologies. \nThese milestones are significant for implementation of standards-based solutions in various use cases and industry segments. \nThis session will look at the enablement for smart utilities and smart cities from the arriving 5G technologies and the new standards. It will discuss the 5G features and share experiences from early trials/ deployments. \nClick here for Program Agenda. \nSpeakers: (Click here for Speaker Bios) \nR K Pathak\, Convener\, 5G High Level Forum (DDG-IC\, DoT\, GoI) \nSatish Jamadagni\, Vice Chairman-TSDSI (Vice President-Reliance JIO) \nSharad Arora\, Co-Chair TSDSI Outreach Committee and Governing Council Member (Founder and Managing Director\, Sensorise Digital Services Pvt Ltd) \nSubhas Mondal\, Governing Council Member\, TSDSI (WIPRO Fellow & Chief Architect-5G\, WIPRO) \nPamela Kumar\, Director General\, TSDSI \nKiran Kuchi\, Member TSDSI (IIT Hyderabad) \nSachin Chaudhari\, Member TSDSI (IIIT Hyderabad) \nAmarjeet Kumar\, CEO – Shrama Technologies Pvt Ltd \nHem Thukral\, Smart Grid Expert\, Ernst & Young (EY) \nClick here for more details. \nParticipation: Participation in this event is by prior registration\, which entails a nominal Registration Fee. SUMMARY:Webinar on “IoT Security”(17 July\,2019: Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:TSDSI is proud to announce the 18th Knowledge Sharing Webinar under the aegis of India EU Partnership Project on “IoT Security” \nTopic Abstract: \nIoT / M2M Ecosystem comprises of telecom service providers\, M2M application service providers\, Sensors\, hardware OEMs\, supply chain\, middleware\, deployment and asset management. M2M is driving an increasingly complex relationship between networks\, service providers and an exploding number of devices in real time. These devices will be powered and connected by a complicated convergence of networks. Different types of applications have different needs in terms of network resources leading to requirement of different regulatory treatment to them. \nIoT / M2M (Machine to Machine communication) is an emerging area for connecting devices; M2M refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same ability. M2M uses a device (such as a sensor or meter) to capture an event\, which is relayed through a network (wireless\, wired or hybrid) to an application\, that translates the captured event into meaningful information. We foresee a heterogeneous architecture in future\, in which there will be several devices\, gateway and back end platforms will be communicating to each other using different communication modes. \nAs these new service providers develop new and innovative services for particular market segments\, they may be unaware of the threats their service may face. In some cases\, the service provider may not have developed a service that has connected to a communications network or the internet before and they may not have access to the skills and expertise to mitigate the risks posed by enabling internet connectivity within their devices. In contrast\, their adversaries understand the technology and security weaknesses\, quickly taking advantage if vulnerabilities are exposed. \nModerator: Mr. Vijay Madan\, Mentor and Advisor – Services and Solutions\, TSDSI \nSpeaker: Shailendra Kumar Sharma\, Deputy Director General (Smart Networks)\, Telecom Engineering Centre\, Department of Telecommunications\, India. \nSpeaker Bio: Mr Shailendra Kumar Sharma has an BE (Hons) Electronics and Electrical Engg along with Msc (Hons ) Physics from Birla Institute of Technology and Science\, Pilani in the year 1983\, followed by M.B.A. in Financial Management in the year 2007 and PG Diploma in International Business Operations from IGNOU in 2011. He also had experience of summer school at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as a National Science Talent Scholar. \nMr Sharma has rich and varied experience in the field of Telecom covering Operation\, Planning\, Development\, and Management of Telecom services coupled with Designing and Sales & Distribution of Telecom products giving due weight age to the various policies of Govt of India. He has worked in different capacities during the last more than 33 years in Rajasthan\, Gujarat\, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and rendered work in the field of Telecom. He has discharged the responsibilities as DDG IT\, DDG CS and is presently working as DDG Smart Networks in TEC\, DoT\, pertaining to IoT Domain work. \nHe has delivered lectures / participated in Seminars / workshops at IEEE\, TSDSI\, SESEI ( ETSI)\, NTIPRIT\, ITU-APT\, etc in the Telecom domain. He is well versed with the developments in this field and also with the aims and objectives of National Telecom Policies being framed from time to time. \nSchedule: July 17\, 2019 14:30 -15:30 IST \nParticipation: Participation in the Webinar is by prior registration here. \nVenue: Webinar
