SUMMARY:WEBINAR ON ‘5G Use Cases in Manufacturing and Logistics Sector’ (May 25\, 2022: Online)
DESCRIPTION:Telecommunication Standards Development Society India (TSDSI) in collaboration with National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research\, Innovation and Training (NTIPRIT) organized a webinar on ‘5G Use Cases in Manufacturing and Logistics Sectors’\, as part of webinar series on the theme ‘5G Use cases in sectors of economy’\, on 25th May 2022 from 11:00 to 13:30 IST. \nAbout the Webinar: \nManufacturing is undergoing a major generational shift to Industry 4.0 – the digitization and advancement of manufacturing processes and the ecosystem around them to create more flexible\, efficient and sustainable production lines. \n5G IoT is a key enabler for this shift\, offering manufacturing companies and their supply chain partners improved visibility over their whole ecosystem and setting the foundation for technologies such as AI and machine vision to create new use-cases and improved commercial outcomes. \n5G IoT can extend Industry 4.0 across the supply chain. Manufacturers recognize the benefits that can be realized by extending the reach of the network beyond the factory floor. Indeed\, supply chain management is a key area where significant improvements in operational efficiency can be made. This is particularly the case for verticals that command high-margin products\, for which greater monitoring and visibility of assets in-transit is of paramount importance. Here\, there is an opportunity for a single unified 5G solution which provides end-to end connectivity for mobile assets. \nUtilizing elements of both private and public 5G networks would allow manufacturers to link together segregated systems both inside the factory and across the wider value chain\, including supply chain\, distribution\, warehousing and customer service. \nIn this regard\, the webinar brought together Government officials\, experts from Industry and Academia to showcase and discuss various aspects and perspectives of the 5G use cases in Manufacturing and Logistics Sector. \nSchedule: 25 May 2022\, 11:00 to 13:30 IST \nVenue: Online (on Microsoft Teams) \nRecordings: \n\nProgram Schedule: \n\n\n\nTIME (IST)\nTOPIC\nSPEAKER\n\n\nInaugural Session\n\n\n11:00-11:20\nWelcome address\nSh U. SUMMARY:Seminar on "Smart Communication Solutions for Smart Utilities and Smart Cities" @ India Smart Utility Week (ISUW) 2022 (March 3\, 2022: Online)
DESCRIPTION:Telecommunications Standards Development Society\, India (TSDSI) organized a seminar on “Smart Communication Solutions for Smart Utilities and Smart Cities” in partnership with India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) and Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) on 3rd March 2022 from 17:30 to 20:30 Hrs (IST) in the India Smart Utility Week (ISUW) 2022 Conference scheduled from 2-4 March 2022. This was the 2nd edition of the seminar in this annual conference\, that attracted attention and participation of the whose-who amongst top-notch thinkers and utility leaders from around the globe. Technology Companies\, Regulators\, Policy Makers\, Government Officials and Senior Officials from Electric\, Water and Gas Utilities from 50+ countries participated every year in the past editions of ISUW. \nAbout the Seminar: \nIndia was a pioneer in adopting IPv6 way back in 2015. The M2M Roadmap issued by Department of Telecom (DoT) made IPv6 mandatory for all equipment\, networks and contents in India from July 2015. Since 2015\, ISGF along with other stakeholders have been advocating for 10-12 MHz of licence-free wireless spectrum for M2M Communications in India. On the recommendations of DoT\, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) approved allocation of 7 MHz of spectrum for M2M communications in 2018. The Wireless Planning Committee (WPC) allotted 1 MHz additional spectrum in 2021; and DoT has now agreed in-principle to release another 6 MHz of spectrum. \nBesides allocation of additional RF Spectrum\, DoT is about to introduce 5G communications in the country. The new communication infrastructure\, coupled with IoT technologies\, is an essential component for making utilities and cities “smart”. 5G focus on 3 pillars of new capability – Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC)\, enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) and Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC). The new 5G capabilities are crucial for realizing the full benefits for smart utilities and smart cities. 5Gi developed by Telecommunications Standards Development Society\, India (TSDSI)\, India’s Telecom SDO has been adopted by Government of India. Further\, the Government of India has adopted TSDSI’s transposed oneM2M standards as national standards for IoT/M2M technologies. BIS has issued communication standards for Smart City Applications vide IS:18010 standard series. \nThese milestones are significant for implementation of standards-based solutions for various use cases and industry segments. This session looked at the enablement for smart utilities and smart cities from additional RF Spectrum\, 5G technologies and new standards. \nThe seminar discussed the following: \n\nAdditional Spectrum Band for M2M Communications\n5G Pilots for Smart Utilities and Smart Cities Use Cases\noneM2M for Smart Utilities and Smart Cities\nBIS Standards for IoT Technologies for Smart Cities\nStandardization activities for Smart Grids @ TEC\, TSDSI and 3GPP\nWireless on Wire (WoW) initiatives for providing Broadband Internet in Underserved Communities/ Regions through Power Line Communications (PLC) Technologies\n\nSchedule: 3 March 2022\, 17:30 – 20:30 IST \nVenue: Online \nRecording: \n\nAgenda: \n\n\n\nTIME (IST)\nSESSION\nSPEAKERS\n\n\n1730-1800\nOpening Session \n\n\n\nWelcome Address \n\n\nReji Kumar Pillai\, President – India Smart Grid Forum (a PPP initiative of Government of India) \nChairman – Global Smart Energy Federation\n\n\nSpecial Address\n\nSatish Jamadagani\, Vice Chairman\, TSDSI and Vice President & Head of Standards\, Technology Development\, Reliance Jio \n\n\n\nInaugural Address\nKishore Babu\, DDG\, DoT\n\n\n1800-1930\n\nSESSION 1: \nNew Communication Technology Pilots for Smart Utilities and Smart Cities Use Cases – 5G\, NB-IoT\, Wireless over Wire (WoW) \n\nChair & Moderator: Dindayal Tosniwal \, DDG-NT\, DoT\n\n\n1.
